The quiet launch: shipping without an audience
Forty subscribers, twenty-six bowls, one afternoon. Why small, warm launches work when you have no following at all.
By Freya Lund
Noa did not have an audience. She had a kiln, a notebook of glaze tests and forty email addresses from a weekend market. She launched to them anyway.
Each subscriber got a personal note a week before: here is what I made, here is the price, here is the day it opens. No countdown timers, no discount codes. The collection sold out in an afternoon.
“Forty people who know your name will beat four thousand who scrolled past once.”
Small launches give you something big ones rarely do: replies. Noa learnt which colours people wanted, what price felt right and who would buy again.
Her second launch went to two hundred people and sold out in an hour. She still writes every email herself.
